Located in Towanda, Pennsylvania, Dunn Memorial Field is one of the most iconic ball fields in the country. The field was dedicated in 1922 to honor the memory of Dr. James Dunn and his wife, Alice. Dunn Memorial Field has been used for both professional and amateur baseball games since its opening. The current seating capacity is 2,000 spectators.
The field features a single-deck grandstand on the north side of the field and a double-deck grandstand on the south side. There are also four light towers located behind home plate, as well as a large pavilion that can accommodate up to 1,000 people. The field is maintained by the Towanda Park District and is open from dawn to dusk year-round.
The First Arena Towanda hosted its first professional wrestling event on Saturday, Feb. 16th. The event, which was promoted by promoter Chris Masters, featured a number of local wrestlers competing in a variety of matches. "The Night of Champions" featured eight preliminary matches, including a singles match between Tony Armas and Tyler Fenton and a tag team match between The Warlords and the Outlaws. The night's main event featured Brian Cage defending his NWA World Heavyweight Championship against Silas Young.
When the Towanda Tigers were formed in 1912, the team's first home was on what is now known as Parker Field. That field served as the Tigers' home for 33 seasons, until 1957. In that year, the Tigers moved to their current home of Towanda Stadium. Towanda Stadium has seen a lot of history over the years and has been host to a number of big events. It was the site of the 1976 PIAA Class AA state championship game and also played host to games during the 1988 World Series between the Philadelphia Phillies and Oakland Athletics. Towanda Stadium also hosted a game during the 1996 World Series between the Colorado Rockies and Atlanta Braves.
